Mudgee Weather

Lying on the slopes of the Great Dividing Range...

The Mudgee Wine Region enjoys a temperate climate, characterised by warm days, cool nights and lots of sunshine.

Summer and autumn days are warm, with temperatures dropping at night and during winter. There’s less rainfall here than in some of the surrounding areas.

Of course, we can't promise anything about the weather, but you can have a great time even if conditions turn out to be a little warmer, colder, or wetter than usual, as long as you bring suitable clothing.

SUMMARY

In Australia, the seasons are defined by grouping the calendar months in the following way:

  • Summer - the three hottest months December, January and February.

  • Autumn - the transition months March, April and May.

  • Winter - the three coldest months June, July and August.

  • Spring - the three transition months September, October and November.

Summers are long and hot. Some days in December, January and February are likely to be around 30°C  (86°F). Daylight lasts until around 8 pm.

March and April are transitional months around 26°C  (79°F) to 22°C (71°F) with average overnight temperatures of 11°C (51°F).

May often stays in that range, but can dip below 19°C  (66°F) degrees and 6°C (42°F) overnight..

June through August are cold with temperatures getting up to 12°C (53°F) but can drop below freezing. Average overnight temps of 2°C (35°F)

Typically you can expect temperatures to hit between 15°C (59°F) to 23°C (73°F) degrees between September and November respectively.
